On Friday night the Sharks senior women’s tackle team travelled to George Burnett Park to take on the top of the ladder Joondalup Giants.
The first half saw our ladies defending for their lives against a solid Giants team in what was a really physical game.
Our ladies maintained their structure and completed some really good attacking sets.<br>With an injury to one of our ladies, who had to come off with an injured neck, the team went into half-time down 22-0.
The ladies regrouped at half-time and came strong in the second half, their intensity lifted and their resilience started to show.
With another injury and stoppage of play as one of our sharks ladies was carried from the field on a stretcher off with a suspected dislocated knee, the team went to another level and every players determination to fight back was evident with the team scoring 10 points and keeping the Giants scoreless in the second half to finish off the game 22-10.
The scoreboard was definitely not reflective of the ladies efforts and commitment as a team.
Thank you to all the sharks supporters that came out to cheer on the women’s team and to all the spectators that came to support women’s rugby in WA, it’s great to see the growth for women’s rugby in WA and high level if skills on show.
